The Clerk also provides fiscal and other services affecting all Town agencies. Responsibilities include collecting town taxes and water/sewer bills, issuing various New York State required licenses (dog, marriage, etc.), and serving as the Registrar for the Town of Madrid. Licenses, Permits, Records, & Rentals Vital Records (Birth, Death, Marriage) Dog Licenses Hunting, Fishing, & Trapping Licenses Community Building Rental Vital Records Applications for certified copies of Birth, Death, and Marriage Records can be obtained below. To Apply: Please print the application, complete all required sections, and return it to the Town Clerk with a copy of your picture ID. Fee: Each application must include a check or money order for $10.00 per certified copy or transcript requested. You can contact the Clerk's Office for more information. Fees: $5 for spayed/neutered dogs and $13 for unspayed/unneutered dogs. Requirement: All dogs MUST have a current rabies vaccination. Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping Licenses Licenses are now available at the Town Clerk's office. Payment: Cash, check, or money order is accepted for payment. Credit cards are not accepted. Community Building Rental Process: Applications can be printed, filled out, and returned to the Town Clerk. Reservation: Please call to ensure your requested date is available before submitting your application. Deposit: A $100.00 deposit is required to reserve the date. Collection Dates: Tax payments are collected during regular office hours from January 2nd through June 1st. After June 1st: Payments must be submitted to the St. Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office. Notice of Tax Collection PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: The undersigned, the collector of taxes of the Town of Madrid, has received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes for the Town of Madrid for the fiscal year January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. Location: Taxes are received at the Town Office (3529 County Route 14) during usual business hours (9 AM - 12 PM and 12:30 PM - 3 PM , Monday – Thursday). Penalty-Free Period: Taxes may be paid without interest on or before the thirty-first day of January. Interest: Taxes received after the penalty-free period shall have interest added at the rate of one percent (1%) for each month or fraction thereof until the return of unpaid taxes to the County Treasurer on June 2, 2026.
